Frequently Asked Questions

Baptism is open to all who wish to affirm their faith and grow up in the life of the Church. We would love to talk to you about this please contact Angela Hanvey at
administrator@aberfeldyparishchurch.org

We would love to speak to you about the baptism of your child.  Baptism is about your child being welcomed into God’s family, and about us in the Church promising to be a family which supports you, your family and your child.

Baptism does involve a promise to “bring your child up in the life of the Church.”  This can mean a range of things and we can talk about what that means.  Alternatively you may decide that you would prefer a Dedication service, and once again we’d love to talk to you about that.

We can also baptise children who do not normally live in Aberfeldy.  This would normally mean talking to you about the Church where your child would grow up, and making links with that congregation.

If you have a link with the life of the Church, and you would like your grandchildren to be baptised, this is certainly something that we can talk about. Normally this would involve the affirmation of your grandchildren’s parents, and would involve you taking vows to bring up your children in the life of the Church.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us more on this at administrator@aberfeldyparishchurch.org

Often the simplest way is to do this through your undertaker.  We often work with Gaulds, our local undertakers, and on occasion with undertakers from different parts of Scotland.

The Church of Scotland has a helpful website (Life events | The Church of Scotland)  with help for planning funerals.

We’d be delighted to talk to you about your wedding.

If the registrar says you can be married, then we’d be delighted to talk to you about having a ceremony in the Church. The only other restriction to being married in a Church is that the ceremony contains either prayers, or hymns, or both. We will be very glad to talk to you about making your ceremony personal to you, celebrating your relationship and enabling you to take your vows in a way that speaks to your lives.
